Bullying, To my mind Bullying can be defined as the deployment of unacceptable force, at any time, in any place, by any person or group against any other individual or group.

Bullying is just a word to describe forcing someone to behave in the way the bully, wants by:- using violence, physical force or power (or the threat of it), property theft or damage or - using mental or emotional force or power (or the threat if it), including vocal or verbal abuse, sarcasm and ridicule or - using financial power or force (or the threat of it) or the threat of its withdrawal- withholding a favour or social inclusion or by levying a punitive cost for such membershipThe force applied can be subtle or obvious, a single instance or be repetitive.

To my mind Bullying seems to be a character trait which everyone which every human has, to a greater or lesser degree, with famous exceptions for example Jesus Christ, Mahatma Gandhi, Dalai Llama.

It is endemic within human society at a personal, tribal, community, region or country level. It can be triggered by any differentiating factor by any sub-group of society, whether skin colour, language, sex, race, religion, height, 'the media', political party, employed or unemployed, educated or not, graduate or not, skilled or not, union member or not, ‘profession’ or even on no perceivable basis. It can sometimes be observed by the use of the group or society’s own language specifically designed to keep outsiders out.

Even setting up as ‘experts’ to extensively propound a personal belief, not founded in objective facts, designed to produce a personal benefit at the expense of everyone else, is bullying, so also is promising to deliver any benefits which are incapable of objective proof.

The objective is always to obtain an advantage from or a detriment to the ‘target’ without paying a mutually agreed value for it.‘Bullying’ can include anything ranging from personal slights to aggression, rape, imprisonment, enslavement, theft, imposing legislation without the will of the people, imposing excessive levels of legislation, battles and war. ‘Bullying’ can be the reaction of someone or group who has lost a battle of words, lost an argument, been defeated in a debate or discussion, it is the ‘last’ resort of the defeated. Bullying can also be an act of someone who is selfish, for example in queue-jumping.

Bullying at school is just a early manifestation of aspects of adult life whether at work or play. Bullying can only be controlled by self-control or by punishment be it social opprobrium, disgust by the immediate community, physical punishment, imprisonment or physical defeat on the bully’s own terms.
Personally I am of the opinion that the solution lies in respect and self-respect. It lies in being sufficiently self-confident and having sufficient self-respect that you can extend that courtesy to everyone else. It also needs everyone to be able to speak to, and to listen to and to take the time to understand each other.
