Future
I am of the opinion that the main parties will think that the electorate has lost interest in the expenses fraud. Cameron will be delighted that he has the flow, that he’s done enough to lead the next parliament. He’s probably right but the electors will not accept anything less than a serious culling of MPs (and Lords) for that matter.
Labour won’t bother doing anything because they are too weak and they think the main problem is with moats rather than two jags.
Neither party, nor the Lib Dems, will force the de-selection of enough sitting MPs,allowing rather their resignations with the consequent unearned costs to the tax-payer. The voters will take their revenge on the parties for this course of action as soon as they get an opportunity.
Therefore there will be a huge opportunity for a revolt by the English voters. Looking at the UKIP manifesto there’s a huge overlap will my views expressed here over the last year.
