Gluten free meals out in Southwick and Shoreham

3rd January 2009 TOSCA again superb. The new decor is smart and elegant and the service is always very good. The Penne Cacciatora was excellent. We alternate between Tosca, the Indian Cottage Tandoori and with the Marlipins.

28th November 2008. Another visit to the Marlipins, plus last week at the Tosca, excellent meals and we're looked after nicely. We also enjoyed a meal at the Cottage Tandoori.

25th July 2008. two visits to The Bridge in Shoreham, at the first one bar staff responded No when asked for gluten-free crisps and Yes when asked for Walkers Salt & Vinegar, which are gluten free. Not Good.  The second visit I found Leanne and she understood my questions and ensured I got a lovely lunch... in the sunshine overlooking the river. Excellent. Thank you Leanne.

18th July 2008. Gluten free Thai cuisine, in one of our local pubs. Just an ordinary pub with Karaoke and live bands but the kitchen staff are a Thai family. So if you like a small menu range in unpretentious places then The Pilot in Southwick near the harbour, may be the place for you. watch out for the Thai Green curry. By the way I gave them a travel card actually written in Thai to make it easier for them to understand.

17th July 2008. the Marlipins in Shoreham High Street. Well were we surprised! Through the pub and out to the large. airy, modern conservatory. The staff were at first a bit confused but they cottoned fast and we had a lovely meal. In my case a steak, jacket potatoes and salad with home-made sauce plus a glass of wine. Total for two less than £20. Excellent service and excellent food.

We had our Christmas lunch at the Sportsman between Hurstpierpoint and Burgess Hill and they looked after us really well. The first time I've had chips for years!! But we went there again last week and were served some very dry over-cooked salmon (and over-priced) so I won't be going there again.

Another day we tried the Little Elephant Thai restaurant in Shoreham and they were well organised - the prawn crackers were OK and so was everything else. Very good.

Breakfast at the Hotel Alias Seattle in Brighton Marina organised by the City College Brighton and Hove was a classic bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, and mushrooms, which together with a glass of orange juice and then some black coffee was strict GI Diet as well. Great.

The breakfast meeting organised by Sussex Enterprise was a bit light on the breakfast either a croissant or an orange. Plus coffee. The orange was good.
