7th December 2009 Reputation still dodgy. Brilliant meal at The Gaydon Inn, Gaydon, CV350HA, 01928840388.  Friendly, knowledgeable, even GF items shown as such on the menu. Turn off at Jnctn 12 0n M40, drive towards Gaydon, turn left at the island, two hundred yards on the right, opposite the filling station. The rest of the restaurants were pathetic, an insult to their customers- The Crown at Iverley and the Horseshoes at Belbroughton.

8th December 2008 Reputation Revived during our Christmas Visit - I had two excellent meals so I can recommend Ye Olde Horseshoe Inn in Belbroughton and the Swan in Blakedown. As with all restaurants and pubs try to give them some warning or arrive during an off peak period, then they are not under so much stress. The 'Shoes' as its called locally did me proud with their Christmas Fayre, Turkey with fresh vegetables, roast potatoes and all the trimmings except stuffing, and cheese board with grapes and melon, Give them a call on 01562730233. The Swan at Blakedown, stepped into the breach when we needed something to eat half way through the afternoon, when we were out walking, I had jacket potato with  cheese ham and salad, very very good!

16th August What a rubbish weekend. Every restaurant professed to be helpful for Gluten Free:

- omelette and salad, what could be easier? Well they added chips (bought-in ready chipped)
- steak and salad, what could be easier? Well they added croutons dropped across the salad
- for sweet, Eton Mess, meringue and raspberries? No. Underneath, because they were lazy, they'd put a scoop of ice cream, but they didn't know whether it contained gluten,
- and there was another but I've forgotten what they did.

7th December 2007 Gluten Free weekend Thame, Bridgnorth, Belbroughton.
(Updated 14th May 2008, The Lambert Arms is closed for refurbishment and development. I think it'll take a year or so.) The Lambert Arms near Junct 6 M40 nr Thame. Ham, eggs and real chips, wonderful. Very friendly and helpful, which is precisely the service you're really looking for.

The River and Rail nr Bridgnorth, 01746 780404, Turkey salad, fresh, tasty, white wine vinegar, good red wine and very friendly

The Queen's in Belbroughton, 01562 730276, Zarzeula with fresh vegetables and new potatoes, followed by three flavour ice cream. The owner and the rest of his family were very willing to check with their chef. Excellent.

Whilst the Ibis Hotel in Southampton could only offer crisps as gluten free they did introduce me to Jonathan Crisps which are really superb and all of them are Gluten Free.
