The Club Name - So why celebrate ‘English’

‘English’, is a unique phenomenon. So how did it come about? What caused it to become what it now is? So I've set this up to look at various angles as shown below:

The Language - 1, a history

The Language - 2, a Million Words

The Language - 3, the vagaries of the English language, my favourite words, phrases, excerpts and poems

Threats and opportunities

Personally I love the diversity, the richness of our society and I love the freedom of speech, the freedom to criticise, the freedom to have your own opinions.

I was honoured and deeply humbled when we hosted some people from St Petersburg to dinner at our house shortly after ‘Glasnost’, what a wonderful country we are privileged to live in.

But the taxes are another subject!!

What are your favourite hates?

What other threats do you see?

What other opportunities do you see?

What are your views?

“Cry God for Harry, England and St George.”
