Healthy WalksLets assume we all think it's a good idea, because of the feel-good factor.
How do we get the 'feel-good factor'
First time out walk for ten minutes and make a note of how far you got. Then you set your own short (achievable) targets, gently extending your range. By short we mean 10-20 mins brisk walk. I know, it's a ridiculously short time. When you start enjoying it either extend the time available or extend the distance you want to cover in your ten minutes or both.
My favourite combination is 30 minutes each way and then I see whether I can extend the distance walked. Do that every other day and you'll feel healthy, believe me.
Our job is to make the walks interesting and enjoyable so that you'll be comfortable walking further and more frequently. Particularly preferring to walk down to the shops, restaurant or pub, just because you want to.
The good news is that your body will actually like the walking and you will feel better.
The other benefits that flow from this simple start are:- increased self-confidence
- improved stance and posture
- more energy and enthusiasm for anything you do
Let alone better health, increased life-expectancy, and the ability to get more fun out of life. Once again play football or frisbee with the kids, if you want to.
There's also a naturally better choice of foods that your body will prefer and details about this are available when you want them.
Now that's what I call a 'feel-good' factor.
