We've moved on some more by today 19th August: now Angie's Butternut squash are starting well and climbing all over another trellis; the thyme bed under the table in the pergola is excellent and a wonderful smell; the Christmas potatoes have started; the Giant Guatemalan groundcherry has suddenly got established; the raspberries are recovering; the new composters are installed; the replacement path is in progress; the stitching on the polytunnel greenhouse is rotting away; the tomatoes' branches are breaking because of the weight of the fruit; several white and one black aubergine; morer Etna chillies are turning red; next succession of radishes is underway; one Crystal Apple has been moved to a spare bed and put under a cold frame (that's how cold it has been!); the leeks are looking happier today; we're taking 5lbs weight of stuff every day excluding potatoes and the tomatoes haven't started yet; red iceberg lettuces are looking happier today and the next small batch of beetroots are established. Just managing to defend the peat trough (Blueberries) from the fox who wants to make a lair there.

Progress observed on 4th August: first Aubergine showing, new succession of green courgettes about to start, seven/eight squash fruits (Early Golden Hubbard), sunflowers flowering, next set of Dwarf French Beans have fully started, trellis of Miniature White Cucumbers is going a treat and the fruit is lovely and the Radish experiment is being oberved!!

1st August: All sorts of bits and pieces:- ericaceous fertiliser for the blueberries (and azaleas)- new 10 litre watering can- received the new 600 litre composters ( and cleared the old ones, reclaiming all the compost I can. Then plus an accelerator we should be fine.) - mulch up the raspberries and water, water, water and then some more water- dig pit for blueberries and line with newspapers- more dwarf french beans have poked their heads up, using Scoramide to frighten the slugs away

To Dos: sow perennial flowers for next year; plant out lettuce seedlings, then beetroot and carrots; move Poha back into greenhouse (?where?); replant Alpine strawberries into improved soil;
