2006 Learning:
- Soot needs three months open to the weather before being used
- The heavy-weight radishes are very good to grow and to use in winter casseroles, soups and chutneys. They are prolific croppers. We recommend only growing one and then in limited quantities, for colour we prefer Rose d'Hiver de Chine. The black and the white don't fit with us. Similarly we didn't get comfortable with radish 'Red Meat'and Munchen Bier which is another heavyweight.
- The hot beds I don't think warranted the extra effort. I think and hope that we can use different varieties to give early crops and late crops. On the other hand that means we seem to have thirteen types of beans; seven types of lettuce; two types of leek; five types of potato; eight types of tomato; and seven types of peppers/chilies. hey ho!
